nrc data: echotrol™.
All the details you need to understand the acoustic properties of the Echotrol™ line of products. Many acoustic manufacturers have different methods of reporting their acoustic performance, which leads to confusion when comparing product against product.
We have provided our standard NRC data, along with other common reporting methods to provide the widest range of data available. If you would like a side-by-side comparison on a specific product that has not already been addressed, please reach out. Our team of engineers would be happy to assist.
Echotrol™ Acoustic Panels: Wall & Ceiling
Data Reporting Notes/disclaimer:
All Echotrol™ NRC data reporting for Western Noise Control products are in accordance with ASTM E795 protocols. Testing was provided by the Mechanical Engineering Acoustics and Noise Unit (MEANU) at the University of Alberta.
NRC Values are determined by averaging the absorption coefficients at the 250Hz, 500Hz, 1000Hz, and 2000Hz frequencies and rounding to the nearest 0.05.
During the testing process, the sides and back of the panels are covered to prevent the absorption of those surface areas in the total NRC. In real-world installations, panels often have hardened edges (preventing absorption) or are butted up against one another, or a wall (preventing absorption).
Many other acoustic panel manufacturers choose to include the absorption of the sides of their panels, as it increases the overall NRC of the panel. Western Noise Control’s NRC claims are conservative to most accurately reflect installed performance. However, for the sake of simple comparison, reporting for both methods is shown.
The most accurate method to compare the acoustic performance of one acoustic product vs. another is the compare the total sabins of absorption for the same unit/panel size.

NRC Data Panels: Standard Reporting
Echotrol™ baffles: STANDARD, rigid & high nrc echofelt
Data Reporting Notes/disclaimer:
All Echotrol™ NRC data reporting for Western Noise Control products are in accordance with ASTM E795 protocols. Testing was provided by the Mechanical Engineering Acoustics and Noise Unit (MEANU) at the University of Alberta.
NRC Values are determined by averaging the absorption coefficients at the 250Hz, 500Hz, 1000Hz, and 2000Hz frequencies and rounding to the nearest 0.05.
Many other acoustic baffle manufacturers, do not choose to report their data in this manner. NRC data for baffles are often shown to be doubled as the NRC value for both faces of the baffle are added together to show a higher total NRC. Acoustical testing labs caution against this practice as it is not a true reflection of acoustic performance.
However, for the sake of simple comparison, reporting for both methods is shown.
The most accurate method to compare the acoustic performance of one acoustic product vs. another is the compare the total sabins of absorption for the same unit/panel size.
